Singers, academics or former Iraqi-held hostages are due to come together, this evening, in support of the French Colombian held hostage for 44 months by FARC in Colombia.

Ingrid Betancourt, the French -Colombian is the centre of this great support evening on Monday, 24 October in the Theatre Rond-Point in Paris. All these people already mentioned will gather to support this woman politician held hostage by FARC for 44 months in Colombia. The Parisian support committee have announced the participation this evening of singers Renaud, Julien Clerc, Jean-Louis Aubert, Zazie, Jeanne Cherhal, Benabar, Yves Duteil, Calogero, Hugues Auffrey, Bernard Lavilliers, Yuri Buenaventura and the group I Muvrini.

Other personalities, such as the writer Gerard de Cortanze, or the producer Robert Hossein are also due to participate in this event. Journalists Florence Aubenas and Christian Chesnot, French journalists formerly held hostages in Iraq are expected to participate in the event.

As far as Bogotá

Renaud will also for the first time sing the song written for Ingrid Betancourt, "In the Jungle".

The support committee "hope that all of these voices will reach as far as Bogotá with the one aim; to say the situation of the Colombian hostages ought not to be as it is and to remind us that on the eve of the presidential elections, as President Uribe prepares to leave office he has still not done anything to bring about a lasting humanitarian agreement".

42-year-old Ingrid Betancourt is held hostage by FARC since 23 February 2002.
