French singer Renaud to Americans : "Help free the people held hostage by Colombia's largest rebel group”

12/15/2007 - France Info, Le Monde, International Herald Tribune

Renaud, the French singer, engaged for the release of the Franco-Colombian, Ingrid Betancourt,  challenges the United States in a page of publicity published in English in "Le Monde", a french newspaper. He asks american citizens to also mobilize for three Americans currently held hostage by the Farc.

His recording company, Virgin (EMI), indicated to AFP that Renaud had also taken a similar page of publicity in the International Herald Tribune of Saturday.

“I am asking you spread the word about the plight of these men. Talk with your governors, your senators, your politicians, your president. Help free the people held hostage by Colombia's largest rebel group”, writes Renaud.

According to Virgin, this call was validated by the support group to Mrs. Betancourt and by her family. Renaud dedicated already a song to Ingrid and organized several concerts for her and the other Colombian hostages.
