Three hostages held by Colombia's biggest rebel group won't be freed today, RCN Television reported, citing Red Cross officials.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's effort to free Clara Rojas, a former Colombian vice presidential candidate, her 3- year-old son, Emmanuel, and former lawmaker Consuelo Gonzales won't occur today due to the rebels' failure to provide coordinate for the handover and to poor weather condition, the channel cited unidentified Red Cross officials as saying.
The operation to free the three was cancelled yesterday because the guerrillas had failed to provide the coordinates to the jungle pickup and because the Red Cross won't make flights after dark. The Colombian government has given Chavez a deadline of 7 p.m. New York time tomorrow to complete the mission.
