The International Federation of Ingrid Betancourt Committees (IFIBC) rejoices in the release of Florence Aubenas and of Hussein Hannoun after the long months of captivity. It shares the immense happiness of their families and friends and wishes that the family and relatives of Ingrid Betancourt, held for over three years, might also soon share in the same happiness.
It calls for a strengthening of international mobilisation for all individuals arbitrarily deprived of their freedom all over the world, and more particularly in Colombia, a country that represents alone 85% of hostages taken worldwide.
In particular, the Federation reiterates its confidence in the French government for the actions that it is conducting and will conduct to obtain, finally, the release of Ingrid Betancourt, presidential candidate in Colombia and a French citizen, now held for over three years.
The IFIBC [FICIB] groups, in France and outside France, 72 committees acting in a concerted way for the release of Ingrid Betancourt and of the other Colombian hostages, totally independent of any political party or any other philosophical movement. They have conducted many actions in solidarity with the families of Florence and Hussein and those of the other hostages, in particular, those of Fred Nérac and of Guy-André Kieffer.
